Photo Scouting: Agua Caliente (14 June, 2018)

A really quick update today: finished this little video yesterday, but I got caught up in other stuff. I did a quick photo tour of the Agua Caliente Park in Tucson, AZ a few days ago.

This park is one of the very first parks I was able to explore when I began shooting this type of photography not long ago.

It has seen its share of trouble over time. For a while, the water that clearly defines this park had gone away. The water table had dropped too far in too short a time, causing the dual cool and hot springs to leave the park dry after more than a century. The county is pumping water back into the location, but the original springs are all but dried up. Very sad because I know the county won’t dump cash into anything for very long.

So, let’s shoot this before it’s gone! I love shooting fantasy, sci-fi, horror and just plain portraits here. Got an idea? I’ll help with it!

Enjoy this short video showcasing Agua Caliente Park.

Abandoned Vail Warehouse, Scottsdale, a Wedding, a Short Film, and the Sasco Shoot

In case you didn’t see the title of this post, I’ll reiterate: “Abandoned Vail Warehouse, Scottsdale, a Wedding, a Short Film, and the Sasco Shoot.”

This sums up my last couple weeks.

I rented a camera for a wedding on Saturday. Booked a shoot for Friday to try out the camera (Abandoned Vail Warehouse Photo Scout). Got a call that the wedding was being pushed forward due to rain. Booked another shoot for Saturday (Scottsdale). The wedding got moved to Sunday (The Wedding). I’ve been working on and off on a Short Film and that was Tuesday after the wedding (The Short Film). Finished off with another shoot on this last Friday at the SASCO Abandoned Mine (Sasco Shoot).

Right?

I’ve only really finished processing The Wedding and The Photo Scout. Lots of great images from the Scottsdale Shoot. Working those next.

I have another shoot tomorrow morning. Ought to be interesting. Might have another on Saturday, too.

All of my shoots now are TFP. Doing an awful lot of it lately.

Stay tuned for more information on my new Easy Trade program.

Exciting things coming our way!

Little Plans: Modeling and a NEW TFP

Little Plans: Modeling and a NEW TFP

Two aspects of my business revolve around modeling and TFP. If you’re not familiar, TFP is a photographer/model term used to describe a sort of “trade” agreement in which the model and photographer both agree to trade for equivalent services. It’s a trust matter. Sometimes the photographer doesn’t deliver and sometimes the model doesn’t deliver.

I want to offer a better TFP.

Because I want a better TFP, I want to know your experiences with TFP. Whether you’re a photographer, videographer, musician, model, actor/actress, or a complete newbie (or seasoned pro), I want to know your experiences and stories.

Good, bad, ugly? Let me know. It remains private. I can take it.

Interested? Click here for more info and to submit the survey.

Everything will be kept completely confidential: I’m using this to build a new type of TFP plan. One with choices and real benefits for a modern, electronic, social media world.

So, please fill out this short survey. I strongly encourage your elaboration. The devil, as they say, is in the details. I want your stories, good, bad, or indifferent.

What’s Up (May 2018)

Big Plans

I started working on a new plan for Techno Obscura. I’ve been working on it for months, actually. Little pieces turned into bigger and bigger efforts requiring more and more research. I’m finally getting to implementing it now.

What is it? I’m tired of being spread out. I have a website, all my stock media sites, various social media sites, a few portfolio sites, and I still don’t have time to keep them all updated while also helping my wife with her business. I’m just worn too thin to be effective anymore. What’s the fix?

First, the website is in dire need of work. I haven’t updated it in ages and its costing me business and making more trouble than its worth. To be fair, I’ve been working very hard with my wife to ensure the long-term success of WeeGonza Bazaar. Mostly photo and video work as well as a lot of art and making some awesome new products for her. After Phoenix Comic Fest, in only a couple weeks, I will begin working on my website and new content full time. I will still be working with my wife, but I’ll be taking more of an advisory role while we basically trim the fat and focus exclusively on our web “experience.”

Stock-ing Stuffers

Techno Obscura Stock Circuit Board
Techno Obscura Stock Circuit Board with image file details.

I’ve posted hundreds of photos up for stock in the last couple weeks. I figured I would sift through my old files and see what I had in the vaults over the holidays. I also rediscovered some lost hard drives back in October and more in November that also had many terabytes of good, quality photo and video content. I knew I would find some, but I genuinely wasn’t prepared for the volume of stock that I found.

In all, I wound up finding over 350 images that met the criteria I was seeking. Beyond that, I narrowed it down to just under 300 after poring over some files that had serious (not feasible for fixing) issues which were not apparent on first review. Only when viewed at 100% was the issue apparent. Now, as a matter of course, I carefully examine each photo at 100% for detailed issues. Continue reading “Stock-ing Stuffers”
